Monique Epstein
Monique is Director of Good Taste and Fine Design at ES&D, we avoid sinking into "committee stagnantion" around here by acknowledging that Monique is really good at identifying the good ideas, so we go with those.
She began working as a graphic designer in the early 70’s joining partner Matthew Epstein as design & sourcing consultants eventually forming Epstein Designs in Sausalito, California in 1984. EDI imported proprietary designed housewares products for the top department stores, mass merchants, catalogs and upscale stores. They sold that company in 1996 and Monique stayed on to handle the big clients, like Starbucks and Target among others.
In 1998 she began what has since grown to be a full range design and sourcing firm focusing on recycled and sustainable products for the houseware, giftware and hotel industries.
In 2008 she helped form BYOIC LLC, a design, manufacturing and consulting company of CPGs, and creator of the BYOIC ice cream carrier and the e-ReaderRaincoat.
Matthew Epstein
Matthew is Head of Making It Happen here at Epstein Sourcing & Design, it’s all well and good to come up with brilliant ideas and good design, but you really need a guy that makes sure things get manufactured and shipped, stuff like that. Luckily we have Matthew, if it wasn’t for him we’d likely still be sitting around on the deck in Mill Valley talking about what a great idea this is.
Matthew has worked in the housewares/tabletop/hospitality industry since 1970. In '75 he and Monique joined as a design and sourcing consultants while representing a number of major manufacturers and importers to key accounts. They imported proprietary designed housewares products for a client list that included top department stores, mass merchants, catalogs and upscale stores.
In '96 the company was sold to a domestic competitor, enabling them to expand sales and assortments by importing from Asia and India. Matthew continued his sourcing and management responsibilities along with product development.
In '98 Oh!Zone, Inc. began by offering proprietary designed and sourced programs (coffee, barware, coordinated seasonal products and hospitality products) as well as consulting for domestic manufacturers in the industries.
Matthew is also a co-inventor of the BYOIC ice cream carrier and managing member of BYOIC LLC, a design, manufacturing and consulting company of CPGs, including the BYOIC ice cream carrier and the e-ReaderRaincoat.
As Epstein Sourcing & Design, his business has since grown to be a full range design and sourcing firm offering a variety of services to clients. As an environmentalist at heart and with Matthew's knowledge of raw materials and production processes, ES&D is committed to working with business both local and abroad to improve our world's environment.
Jordan Epstein
Jordan is Director of Making Sure It Works at ES&D, he handles the turning vision into reality stuff - making sure the products do what we had in our vision, making sure it was all, well, actually designed.
Jordan has been exposed to good design through his parents since an early age, he worked in their offices, traveled to Europe and Asia for trade shows and began developing new designs in his early teens. He graduated from San Diego School of Design with a degree in Graphic Design from Platt College. After returning to the Bay Area, he was hired by Restoration Hardware as a Designer in 2001.
Jordan joined the family business of Epstein Sourcing & Design, Inc. in 2003 and helped form BYOIC in 2008 where he was instrumental in the design of both our first product (the Bring Your Own Ice Cream mini cooler) and the e-Reader Raincoat. Jordan has a wonderful wife named Cathy and a charming young son named Izzy.
